Brittany Hatting grew up in Colfax, North Dakota and graduated from Richland 44 High School. She received her undergraduate degree in English, magna cum laude, from South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD. At South Dakota State, Brittany was a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, the SDSU English Club, and the Golden Key Honor Society.
Brittany received her J.D., with honors, from the University of South Dakota School of Law in Vermillion, SD. During law school, Brittany was a member of the South Dakota Law Review, serving as Copy Editor for Volume 57 and a Staff Writer for Volume 56. Her article was published by the South Dakota Law Review in 2012 and she received the Harvey C. Jewett Writing Award in 2011. Brittany was an active member of the Veterans’ Legal Education Group and competed with University of South Dakota School of Law Trial Team in 2013.
Brittany is currently a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar Association of North Dakota, the State Bar Association of Minnesota, and the Wahpeton-Breckenridge Kiwanis chapter. In June 2014, Brittany was elected to The Forum’s Readers Board.
Brittany is the city attorney for the City of Wahpeton and serves as the city attorney for many surrounding communities in Richland County, North Dakota, and Wilkin County, Minnesota.
Brittany was hired as an Associate Attorney by Lies & Bullis in 2013. In December 2013, Brittany was appointed Assistant City Attorney for the City of Wahpeton, North Dakota. She is currently licensed to practice law in both North Dakota and Minnesota.
